All depends, drinking alcohol in pubs and restaurants tend to be expensive to our Belgian standards . Count between 8 to 12 € for a normal beer (40 cc)) and between 35 and 60 € for a bottle of normal wine. A coke is somewhere between 4 and 6 € so yes, that part is expensive. We found out that uncommon places such as the cafeteria of a museum is up to 30% cheaper for the same drinks and once you buy your drinks in the local supermarket, prices tend to be very reasonable. The farther you are from the big cities the more normal prices become. We went to visit a Rema 1000 in Bergen (sort of Carrefour or Delhaize) and you can see the note below. Seems normal to me. We bought regular things like milk, eggs, mayonnaise, etc…. Most products are on the higher end of what we would like to pay but it’s not dramatic. Good meat is expensive I noticed. A good steak like a piece of Siementahl (350 gr.) hits easily between 25 and 35 € (we pay that per kilo 😊). Go for the local products and you won’t die of hunger (and your wallet neither), Kaviar on toast every morning is quite cheap (the classic Ikea fish-spread remember?).
I saw prices for a half litre of Carlsberg vary a lot. 8 € in a supermarket in Bergen and 3,5 € in another supermarket close to Stryn (2,7 € is the cheapest I found). However, you won’t be able to find strong alcohol in the supermarkets, that is only available in special liquor stores (and yes, it’s expensive). Alcohol, even beer, won’t be sold on Sundays in local supermarkets (that was a bit surprising for us).
One last bit : due to tax advantages, Tesla’s are 25 to 30% cheaper than in Belgium. A Porsche Cayenne Turbo costs 40% MORE than in Belgium. You don’t see a lot of Porsches here…
