One the most well-known fjords in Norway is the Geiranger Fjord. If you want to see truckloads of Chinese tourist cattle and idiots grunting their way up the fjord with their RV’s (with 100 cars behind their slow, under powered houses on wheels) : this is the place to be!! You really have to harness yourself for the traffic on the road in the Fjord, driving behind an Estonian bus with a driver who got his licence 3 days ago is a real challenge and occasions to pass a behemoth like that are quite rare.
But all this inconvenience is largely compensated by the MAGNIFICENT vistas. The drive towards the fjord and the fjord itself show the true marvel of nature (and Norwegian tunnel boring). We have to admit that the 4 to 5 km “holes” in a mountain are quite impressive. Next to some artificial lights on the tunnel ceiling and a two-lane strip of asphalt you don’t have much more, but it’s efficient and that is what counts.
We rented two kayaks to explore the fjord a bit more. Valérie and Natalia were the efficient disciplined crew, while Bart and Kristan were struggling not to go backwards but we all made it to the Seven Sisters, a beautiful waterfall (one of the many to be honest) but enough writing : take a look yourself with the pictures below :
